Constructed of a light grey cotton twill base, the obverse bearing a black hand embroidered inscription of KURLAND, flanked on the left by by a black and off white shield bearing the coat of arms of the Grand Master of the Teutonic Knights, and on the right flanked on the right by a shield bearing the coat of arms of the former Courland capital city of Mitau (now Jelgava) executed in identical embroidery, unmarked, measuring 22. 5
