All done from one piece of wood; I'm not certain of the type of wood, but it's got a really warm tone and nice weight, and the piece definitely has some years on it. Really lovely. 13 inches long overall x 3 8" wide and deep. The cages measure 2 3 8" long each, and each link measures about 1 1 2" long. Excellent
