but it appears that with a little effort the two pieces on the back could be folded (pressed) down to allow it to be hung flat from the hook on top if desired

This butterfly shaped needle book/needle keep is a perfect case in point I think

Frame shows wear and a few surface chips though I'd probably leave as is

I splurged a bit on this one and the mermaid also listed (perfect companions), but not often one comes across a sea dragon! I really love the wavering line
