Hesperaloe engelmannii San Saba Ambrosinia upward-facing flowers(aka: Hesperaloe parviflora var. engelmannii) Hesperaloe engelmannii is a closely related plant to the better known Hesperaloe parviflora, but larger in all parts. The darker green leaves can reach just over 3' long, and the flower spikes, which rise alongside the leaves, can reach 7'+ tall. The bright red calyces open to reveal soft pink flowers. Hesperaloe engelmannii is from central Texas, far to the north of the native range of Hesperaloe
